Chinese cabbage
The Flandria cabbage has the typical fresh green colour of the variety and is free of flowering, sprouting or damage. It is well cared for, uniformly presented and has a smooth and fresh cutting surface.
Usage
Rinse the cabbage under cold running water, cut in half lengthwise and rinse again. Remove the stem from the head and shred or slice the leaves into wide or less wide strips, depending on the preparation.
Availability
Chinese cabbage is available nearly all year long.
Packaging
Sorting is based on the size and weight per box. Normally Chinese cabbage is packed in blue EPS boxes. Other packaging materials are available upon request.
Conservation
Chinese cabbage is most favourably stored at a temperature of 0–5 °C and relative humidity of 95 to 100%. The cabbage should be kept in an open plastic bag in the refrigerator. Do not store it too long.
Food value
Chinese cabbage is low in calories and an excellent source of potassium, calcium, phosphorus and vitamin C.
Tip
Chinese cabbage can be eaten raw and cooked. If you want to eat it warm, all you have to do is braise it until it is tender. Add salt and pepper or herbs according to your liking. Chinese cabbage is an excellent addition to quick stir-fries. Additionally, you can blanch the leaves of Chinese cabbage and use them to wrap fillings.
