White cabbage
The Flandria white cabbage is sound and solid. The cabbage has a solid structure, and is regular with regard to shape and size. The colour is white-green.

Usage
Always remove the outer leaves prior to starting a preparation with the cabbage.

Availability
White cabbages are to a large extent available throughout the year. The main season for white cabbages is in winter.

Packaging
The grading takes place based on the quality and the size. It is standard to pack white cabbages in blue EPS crates. Other packagings are delivered at the request of the market.

Conservation
It is best to store white cabbages at a temperature of 1 °C (min 0 - max 8 °C) with a relative humidity of 95 - 100 %. It is recommended to store them in a ventilated place. If stored at a cool place, the white cabbage can be stored for at least a week.

Food value
White cabbages contain lots of fibres, vitamins A and C. In addition, white cabbages are poor in calories.

Tip
Cut the cabbage into four parts, and subsequently remove the inner head. Wash each part under running water; then cut the cabbage to strips. In case you need the entire leaves for a preparation, you should take the whole head out of the cabbage with a sharp knife, and then you can loosen the leaves one by one. White cabbages can be prepared for both hot and cold dishes. Shred the soft core of the cabbage very fine, marinate it in vinaigrette, and serve as wintry raw vegetable. Prepare a salad with raw white cabbage with a pinch of powdered sugar, a little bit of mayonnaise, and put some sweet, finely cut up nuts on it.
